THIRD THURSDAY - Glens Falls Art Walk
< GO BACK
JULY 2009
The Third Thursday Art Walk is proud to partner with The Adirondack Repertory Dance Theatre, 126 Glen St., 3rd Floor. On every ½ hour between 5-8 pm, a demonstration of the various styles of dance the theatre offers will be given, including Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Irish Step. Time will be set aside between each session for ARDT dancers, instructors and board members to talk and answer questions. The Adirondack Repertory Dance Theatre was established in 1981 as a cultural resource for the Glens Falls area. Artistic Director, Pamara Perry, who joined ARDT in 1982, was hand picked by George Balanchine to train at the School of American Ballet, and later went on to become a principal dancer with the Joffrey Ballet.
Café Cabaret (7 Broad St) will be showing the works of mother and son artists, painter Kathleen Boyle and photographer Zachary Ignazio. Ms. Boyle is inspired by the works of both Paul Gauguin and Vincent Van Gogh, and the varied locales of her travels. She owns jrebeccastudio in Queensbury, which functions as her private studio, as well as a salon for artists and other interesting eccentrics to gather, analyze and socialize. Her son, Zachary Ignazio, has lived in the Adirondack region his entire life, and enjoys snowboarding when not focusing on his passion for black and white photography.
Season of Degas Film Series - July marks the second installment in a series of four FREE films (reservations are suggested, call 792-1761) presented as part of the Hyde Collections Season of Degas. An American in Paris, the 1939 film in which Charles Laughton appears as the misshapen Quasimodo who falls in love with a Gypsy girl, will show at 6:00 in the Helen Froehlich Auditorium. Also on July 16, the Hyde Collection galleries will remain open until 9:00 pm.
